36. Did You Know: Darth Vader and company marched into a stunning Smithsonian exhibit at the Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. in 1997? Memorabilia on hand included Vader’s outfit and helmet, Han Solo frozen in carbonite and C3PO. There were more than 200 props, models and costumes from the trilogy. However, not everyone was happy with the final exhibit. Some museum workers complained that the museum “dumbed down” the exhibit because it decided not to show comparisons such as Luke to a samurai warrior. This not only made the hilt easier to wield in the many fast and furious lightsaber fights, it allowed it to fit into the design aesthetic of the prequel trilogy while retaining the familiar profile of the original iconic prop.
