Answer: There would have been an even happier ending had Lucas gone with his first drafts of the script. He originally had Anakin, Obi Wan and Yoda returning to their human form instead of their spirits becoming a natural part of the Force. Instead of watching the celebration, had the original idea been followed, Anakin, Obi Wan and Yoda would have become part of it.
